  • 6 cups fresh apples (mix of Honeycrisp and Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise (whole)
  • 5 whole cloves
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 8 cups filtered water
  • Optional: ½ cup rum or whiskey

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples (do not peel).
