  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • Gel food coloring (as desired)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter until creamy; gradually add sugar and mix until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the mixture until just combined.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool cupcakes completely before frosting with a mix of buttercream, cream cheese, and food coloring if desired.
  8. Decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter.
