  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • Optional filling: chocolate chips or fruit preserves

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Combine warm milk and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. Create the dough: In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture, then combine with flour until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Add filling (optional): Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar or desired filling, then roll tightly.
  6. Shape & second rise: Cut into pieces and place in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise until puffy (30 minutes).
  7. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
