  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, for greasing
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the potato slices in the prepared dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix heavy cream with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour half over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of each type of cheese.
  4. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and top with remaining cheese.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil during the last 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
