Candied jalapenos offer a delightful blend of sweet and spicy flavors that elevate any dish. These vibrant green slices, bathed in a sugary syrup, transform ordinary meals into extraordinary ones. Perfect for nachos, burgers, or as a stand-alone snack, they are sure to impress at your next gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh jalapenos (sliced into rings)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 garlic cloves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by washing the jalapenos and slicing them into rings while wearing gloves.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water. Stir until it reaches a gentle boil and the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Add cinnamon sticks and garlic cloves to the syrup; simmer for about 5 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Carefully add the sliced jalapenos into the bubbling syrup and stir gently to coat each piece evenly.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the jalapenos are glossy and tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Remove from heat and let them cool in their syrup before transferring to sterilized jars.
