  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 cups tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blend
  • 1 cup medium salsa
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • For garnish: ¼ cup chopped green onions
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink; drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in salsa and simmer for a few minutes.
  4. In a large baking dish, layer half of the tortilla chips, half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese. Repeat layers ending with cheese on top.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Add sour cream, green onions, and cilantro as desired.
